Laura Pasetti

This course is facilitated by theatre director, performer, and pedagogue Laura Pasetti, whose unique methodology has evolved through more than 35 years of professional practice, international training, and interdisciplinary research.

Her approach brings together some of Europe’s most influential theatre traditions. She trained with theatre director Giorgio Strehler and further developed her practice through studies with Anatolji Vassiliev, deepening her understanding of the actor’s inner process, presence, and the craft of theatre. She also worked with Andrzej and Teresa WelmiƄski, leading practitioners of the Tadeusz Kantor tradition, whose work explores memory, image, ritual, and the poetic language of performance.

Laura is one of the recipients of Italy’s Anna Magnani Award and has taught at some of the country’s most respected theatre institutions, including three years at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala and ten years at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano Acting School.

Alongside her theatrical career, Laura has developed a deep commitment to ecological and place-based practice. She trained in nature-based practices through Ecodharma and completed a Master’s degree in Engaged Ecology at Schumacher College. These experiences have shaped a methodology that weaves together theatre, embodied awareness, ecology, and storytelling.

At the heart of Laura’s work is the belief that theatre is far more than a performing art: it is a transformative practice that cultivates presence, imagination, relationship, and belonging. Her methodology integrates rigorous actor training with ecological awareness, embodied practice, and collaborative creativity, inviting participants to reconnect with themselves, one another, and the living world.

To give this vision a lasting artistic home, Laura founded in Findhorn Theatre of the 7 Directions, a creative space for those who seek to reconnect through the medium of theatre. Rooted in the belief that theatre is both an artistic discipline and a way of being, Theatre of the 7 Directions brings together the many strands of Laura’s life’s work, creating inclusive spaces where artists and non-artists alike can explore authentic expression, creativity, resilience, and meaningful connection.

Laura has been connected to the Findhorn community since 1993, leading workshops and retreats over many years before making Findhorn her home in 2018. Over the past decade, she has increasingly specialised in ecotheatre, creating participatory projects with local residents that foster creativity, environmental awareness, and community resilience.
