Partner workshop: Navigating age over 55 – More Than A Number
August 3 - 5, 2026
Navigating the limits, possibilities and paradoxes age brings
Are you over 55 and sensing that life is asking new questions of you? Join Diana Whitmore and Helen Sieroda to explore the deeper questions this stage of life invites.
Whether you’re navigating retirement, an empty nest, redefining your role in the world, or seeking deeper meaning, this is an opportunity to celebrate how far you’ve come as well as explore the challenges and gifts the future might hold.
As we age, horizons shift bringing a landscape of paradox:
- the pull of activity and the need for rest
- the desire to hold on and the call to let go,
- the push for self-expression and the call of self-transcendence.
Carl Jung urged us to “enjoy the afternoon of life,” that period past mid-life but not yet in extreme old age. He saw this stage as “just as full of meaning as the morning; only, its meaning and purpose are different.”
This is an invitation to give time and attention to the questions of meaning, identity and presence that often arise in the afternoon of life, and to explore what it is time to let go of, what wants to be carried forward, and how it might be tended in everyday life.
This is not a programme about “successful ageing” or life planning. When roles loosen, something more essential has a chance to come into view.
This does not mean withdrawing, but engaging differently, with greater honesty about limits, and greater care for what truly matters.
Findhorn is the perfect place to pause, listen deeply, and attend to what is emerging. You’ll have time to:
- connect with your inner compass,
- consider how living with purpose and satisfaction matter as much as lifespan,
- and identify practical next steps to sustain you through life’s ‘afternoon’ and beyond.
This non-residential workshop will be facilitated by Diana Whitmore and Helen Sieroda. Together they bring decades of experience in facilitating personal and spiritual evolution. They will weave together practices drawn from psychosynthesis, coaching, and action inquiry.
This course is for you if…
- are over 55 and sense you are approaching a threshold in life
- are curious about ageing as a psychological and spiritual inquiry
- value depth, reflection and spaciousness over quick answers
- appreciate thoughtful facilitation and time to listen – to yourself, others, and place
This course is especially suited to people who have lived full lives and are now interested in integration, we will be holding a perspective of ageing as a change of horizons and not simply about maintaining function or resisting decline.
What to expect:
- a calm, unhurried rhythm, with a balance of shared inquiry, small-group dialogue and solo time
- opportunities to explore:
- identity beyond role – from ‘role to soul’
- shifting horizons as we age
- values and qualities seeking expression now
- time in the Findhorn ecovillage community, allowing place to support reflection
- facilitation that is respectful of participants’ maturity and life experience
- a non-residential format. You can find accommodation options to suit a range of budgets.
